About Maria Wolf
Maria Wolf is an artist living and working in Oakland, California. She received her MFA in painting from the University of Minnesota/Minneapolis and her BFA in painting from Washington University in St. Louis.
Much of Maria’s work has a feminist’s perspective as she explores issues such as gender stereotypes, women’s roles, power, societal messages, and language.
All of her work is work on paper. She is drawn to its tactile quality and loves painting patterns and colors on papers that are then used in collage. Whether the imagery is representational or abstract, bold colors, patterns, and text are recurring elements in her work.
